Who are the Plain Janes?

 

Plain Jane Theatre Company is comprised of Edmonton based artists committed to produce musicals that are lesser-known but artistically and historically relevant to the musical theatre canon.  

 

Our unique style presents these ‘musical gems’ on a smaller scale focusing on the strength of

the story, music, character and talent in our city while still capturing

the spirit and relevance of this great genre.

Since 2010, the Janes have been proud to have produced musicals and revues for the

Edmonton Fringe Festival and the main theatre season.

Where Can You See The Janes Perform?

Our productions have been at the beautiful and thriving Varscona Theatre located in the heart of Old Strathcona. In 2017 we were thrilled to become a part of the Varscona Theatre Ensemble.

We have also made appearences elsewhere in our fine city that celebrates the arts in high style!

Timothy Ryan-Creating For The Future While Honoring The Past

This company celebrates the legacy of artist, teacher and director Timothy Ryan.

His devotion and engagement to theatre had inspired many: The students he taught and mentored 

while building and leading the musical theatre program at Grant MacEwan College from 1979-2009.

And through his wonderful productions he directed with his theatre company 

Leave it to Jane Theatre.
